About

I’m Meg, married and a mama to four crazy kiddos. I am a Registered Nurse (RN) and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). My love for breastfeeding began 10 years ago when I began my career in a neonatal intensive care unit. Helping new moms with their babies quickly grew into my passion.

When I was pregnant with my first child, I knew I wanted to breastfeed, but I had NO IDEA it would be so hard! After all, I had completed prenatal classes and, as a Registered Nurse, it would be a breeze… right?! After weeks and weeks of latching issues and feeling unsupported by the professionals who were supposed to be helping me, I knew I needed more training, more knowledge and more experience. There had to be a way I could help moms avoid all the challenges I had experienced.

While I was pregnant with my second son, I completed my training to become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). After I completed 1,000 practice hours and 90 education hours, I was ready! In 2012, with an 8-week old baby in tow, I wrote a rigorous four hour exam. If there is any exam in the world to write with a new, exclusively breastfed baby, this would be it! I was provided with a “breastfeeding break” to protect our breastfeeding relationship. The IBCLC designation is considered the Gold Standard for breastfeeding care because of this extensive process.

Fast forward to now, two more babies, more than eight years of personal breastfeeding experience (and counting!), and many moms helped with their own babies, I absolutely love this rewarding profession and I am so honoured to be part of this journey. <3
